I haven't been good about blogging and will work on being more consistent. I have, however, been really good about what I eat. I made some really nice chicken strips with garlic herb seasoning the other night. Last night we had salmon steaks with sweet potato and broccoli and peppers sauteed together. All-in-all the food hasn't been too much of an issue - I even resisted the frosted cinnamon buns my co-worker brought in yesterday. I have had a little more beer this week than I originally built into my plan, but it's a small sacrifice. HAHA
I am still having an issue with being hungry most of the time. I eat 5-6 meals a day and eat until I am comfortably full, but inevitably I am hungry an hour later. Was I really eating that much grains and fillers before and that's what kept me full? I keep Paleo snacks on hand at all times, even in my purse, so I don't feel the need to cheat. I haven't officially checked my weight but a quick step on the scale the other day did indicate I have lost some.
I am back on schedule for workouts and that feels good. OOOPS, just remembered I started my glass of wine and I didn't do my run on the treadmill. Oh well, the walk in the snow was a pretty good workout. And I will DEFINITELY get on the trainer tomorrow for a nice long ride. Gotta figure out what movie I want to watch while doing that.
OK, off to make dinner. Steak, coconut shrimp, butternut squash and veg.
I have read a lot of stuff on line that says it can take a few days to a few weeks for your body to adapt to this diet (not relying on simple carbs for energy).
ReplyDeleteOne thing I am finding – I am not hungry or craving anything (actually have to tell myself to eat some days). However, on days where I cheat or have “clean carb” meals I find that I am starving later in the day.
A few things that may help:
Are you drinking green tea during the day? This may help.
I saw some info on another site that said you may be best to hold fruit to 1-2 servings per day until your body adapts to the diet.
Having some form of protein (eggs, meat, fish, etc) with every meal really helps with your blood sugar. Of course this is the tough part as these foods are the least practical to bring around.
Great job girl in keeping paleo with such a hectic schedule!
ReplyDeleteI second Elton's suggestions above. I noticed that when I only have, say a piece of fruit and a few nuts, I get hungry about an hour later. However, if I add in hard boiled egg / whites with that (or jerky), I do much better.
I LOVE fruit and it is often the easiest carb to come by during the day. Replacing a couple of fruits a day with fibrous veggies also helps in terms of feeling full longer - I've read that it is because it keeps your blood sugar a little more stable.
